Report price: Euro 395.00; US$ 520.00

High visibility materials have changed the appearance of clothes worn for both work and leisure pursuits. Today, there are more technologies on offer than in the past, which are able to make people and objects more visible. Also, a wider availability of fabrics, materials, designs and colours has led to greater choice.

Clothing which incorporates high visibility materials has become an increasingly common sight in working environments, especially those where the danger of not being seen can prove fatal?as in the case, for example, of motorways and construction sites. As a consequence of the growing impact of health and safety regulations on businesses, the market for high visibility safety wear is experiencing stronger growth than many other textile application areas. Since the introduction in the 1990s of high visibility apparel standards in Europe and the USA, a number of companies and institutions have added high visibility garments to their corporate uniforms.

Thanks to advances in technology, designers and manufacturers of this type of apparel have been able to make safety features fashionable. Modern manufacturing techniques allow the use of colour to disguise reflective material so that it can not be seen during normal daylight. This has greatly enhanced the appeal of such material, especially in activewear and sportswear. Technological advancements have also enhanced the comfort of high visibility safety wear. This has played a major role in fuelling demand and in raising compliance rates, as the wearer is less likely to sacrifice safety for comfort. Meanwhile, pressure on companies to comply with safety wear regulations will ensure that the demand for high visibility materials remains robust.
