This latest edition of our flagship series of reports contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. The report presents a wealth of information on: exports by destination; imports by source; production; consumer expenditure; and retail markets. In the USA, there were increases in imports of textiles and clothing in both value and volume in 2019. There was also an increase in US consumer expenditure on clothing and footwear, although expenditure plummeted during the first three quarters of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. US textile production and clothing production fell in 2019, and were also down during January-October 2020. Furthermore, US exports of textiles and clothing fell in value terms in 2019 and were down during January-October 2020. In Argentina, textile and clothing production fell in 2019 and exports of textiles and clothing from the country were also down. However, imports of textiles and clothing also fell after rising for four consecutive years. In Brazil, textile and clothing production declined in 2019, and textile and clothing imports fell too. However, there was an increase in textile and clothing exports from the country in 2019 and again during January-October 2020. In Colombia, textile and clothing production increased in 2019 but was down during January-September 2020. Meanwhile, textile and clothing exports from the country fell in 2019, and were also down significantly during January-October 2020. In Mexico, textile and clothing exports from the country rose in 2019 but textile and clothing imports fell. Furthermore, textile and clothing production fell in 2019 and was also down during January-September 2020.
